Regular exercise does not only fight fatigue; it can also make you smarter by increasing the energy level in your brain by Jeanette Calara, PT

The best part about exercising is that, it improves our general fitness by increasing our muscle resistance to fatigue. It also promotes an increase level of endorphins, improves our cardiopulmonary health and makes us sleep better.
But it also makes us smarter.

Exercise promotes the birth of new mitochondria in the muscles which improves our general fitness and reduces the risk for obesity.

However, the energy boost, as a result from exercise helps prevent mental fatigue. This makes our brain work faster and more efficient.

Pick an exercise or activity that you like and enjoy. Make it fun and it will increase the possibility that you’ll stick to it. Schedule a regular activity with family and friends. Get an exercise buddy that can motivate you. Better yet, a physical therapist who has the professional knowledge to help you achieve your optimal fitness level.

Always consult your physician prior starting an exercise activity.

Physical therapy and summer foot pain by Jeanette Calara, PT

Summertime brings us longer days, cook-outs, long walks in the park and the summer essential footwear, the flip flops.
Flip flops are now worn from beachwear to pedicure necessity to daily wear. Although they are truly comfortable, our feet are at risk of developing a condition called plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of foot pain.
What can we do if we are experiencing foot pain? First, consult a medical doctor. Second, inform your physical therapist immediately.
Physical therapy can help relieve foot pain and restores our ability to weight bear on affected foot.
